On Saturday, October 13th, 2012, MAS Context, in collaboration with NEW PROJECTS, organized the second edition of MAS Context : Analog, a one-day event of presentations, exhibitions and an onsite bookstore in Chicago.
MAS Context : Analog gathered a group of emerging and established practitioners within the field of design who discussed their work based on the four themes proposed: Practice, Visual Communication, Production and Curation. The event included presentations by artists, academics, architects, urban designers, graphic designers, industrial designers, experience designers and curators.
Speakers included Jimenez Lai (Bureau Spectacular), Sean Lally (WEATHERS), David Brown (UIC SoA), David Rueter (SAIC), John Pobojewski (Thirst), Sara C. Aye & George Aye (Greater Good Studio), Andrew Clark (MINIMAL), David Sieren & Sam Rosen (The Post Family), Ed Marszewski (Co-Prosperity), Marc Fisher (temporary Services), Claire Warner & Sam Vinz (Volume Gallery), and Dieter Roelstraete (MCA Chicago).
The event also included “Architectural Narratives,” an exhibition of the work of architect-graphic novelist Jimenez Lai and architect-cartoonist Klaus, and an onsite bookstore by Half Letter Press, a publishing imprint and an experimental online store initiated by Temporary Services.
A party with a DJ set by Dieter Roelstraete concluded the event.
MAS Context : Analog was an affiliate event of the Chicago Ideas Week and was supported by The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, AIA Chicago, STA The Society of Typographic Arts, and IIT College of Architecture.
